DCo1's Great Day
So, today, was a good day. Beginning with the late wake-up, the big lunch (hot dog and cheese fries with the large cherry coke [no ice] to go), and then no English class in the afternoon. I went to my History Seminar, which I enjoy. The history class was good. I came back to the dormulatory and then got some dinner... it was a good dinner, the Italian dinner. My favorite part was the linguine with fresh tomatoes... that was good stuff.
Wait, back up,
before I went to my History class, Gabriel "Gabby" Baker came in and talked to me about this Big Ten Burrito website. Last night I talked to him about how I had made this site for BTB when I was bored one night (inspired by how dead the current site is) and how I was too afraid to talk to the people there, because I felt it would be pretty weird if I say "Hi, I made this website for you because I am obsessed and weird." Gabby said he would talk to them for me, and he would also help me on the website, creating content for me, and I would do the design and coding.
Back to today, before I went to my history class, Gabby came in and told me that he brought the design I printed out the night before and showed it to one of the guys who owns BTB. And they liked it! They liked it! And tonight when I went to BTB (for my burrito fix) one of the guys was like, 'yeah, I am all for it, we just need to talk to one more guy..." So, it seems that this is going to happen, finally... a reason to use my skills. heh...
Swagulatory
So, after dinner, I went to this Apple Seminar up on North Campus, and knowing me I left an hour early so I would not be late (and I was excited because I had done a lot of computer talking since I had gotten here. It was called "Stump the Experts!" :
Have you ever had a question about Apple Computer or an Apple product that no one could answer? Here's your chance to test it on the experts! Stump one of our experts and you could win one of our many prizes! This event is open to all users, beginners or advanced. Come to learn more about Apple products or just to win.
And let me tell you it was great. I had a lot of fun just listening to people ask questions and get the answers from real Apple developers over iChat AV chats. I answered a few trivia questions, ones that I am embarrassed to know the answers to because it confirms me being a huge geek, and won a hat, a t-shirt, and some free iTunes Music Store songs (the indie samplers)... one of the most exciting points came after the whole thing was done, and I went up to the people presenting it and asked how I could become an Apple Campus Representative.... and they told me that I should send them an e-mail including a resumé kind of thing... and I sent it when I got back.... and I could get an interview, which is exciting because this is something I have skills at and have done so much before! I may not have won the computer case or the copy of Keynote (which I already have), but this opportunity is pretty cool.
Recap
So, today, was great, really great. I got a burrito, a web site job, a possible Apple job, woke up late, had a good lunch.... today was a great day.
