So, the dude who runs http://www.kottke.org/ has decided to quit his day job and be a full time blogger. First of all, if you haven't read his blog, it is a good collection of links and stories and photos. Secondly, this is a cool idea. Thirdly, he knows that through his fund raising campaign of offering oodles of free goodies, he is going to make a ton of money who want to win the things and support him. Finally, he is not selling any more content to people who paid, just the satisfaction they are helping a guy out whose stuff they like reading.

As soon as I get me some money in the bank, I am going to donate too. I mean, it is a cool idea. If you are popular enough, you can be a personal publisher and make a living doing it. Good for him
