What Kate Did (Lost - 3.9)
What a great way to end a streak of new episodes of LOST. This is the last one until January. And what a way to go off with some new mysteries and some answers. So, come with me and let us explore What Kate Did, and there are spoilers if you have not seen it.
Tonight's episode followed Sick Sawyer, Post Shannonatic Death Disorder, the Dharma Initiative, and What Kate Did. What was very welcoming about this episode is that Ana Lucia was not in it at all. It seems she just brought everything down and interalized a lot of conflict whereas all the viewers want to know the secrets of the island.
So, Kate. Kate blew up her house, along with her mom's boyfriend, who turned out to be her biological father. Her dad is not the warmest of people, continuing a long tradition of characters having parental problems. So, it is about discovering that she did everything with the best intentions, but that does not excuse her from being a murderer. She is helping out Sawyer in this episode.
Sawyer seems to be possesed by Wayne, Kate's BioDad. So, for some reason, he is the reason why she has been repeling Sawyer, who she has a thing for. But if she has a thing for him, why on earth did she kiss Jack? I mean, seriously! Women, as said by Jack, are in fact crazy. I sense a Love Quandrangle between Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Ana Lucia coming on... and strong!
Finally, Kate is able to confront her demon the most directly it seems than anyone else has, and she is able to show affection for Sawyer. And what was that black stalion supposed to represent? I mean, her insanity? But then, we see, that there are just horses on the island... and not branded with the Dharma logo.
Now, Sawyer recovers (his arms are getting a lot of abuse), Jin gets his handcuff taken off, and Shannon is burried. What about the Hatch? Michael and Mr. Eko, along with Locke watch the Dharam Orintation film again (old school). Mr. Eko doesn't say anything at first, but then he admits to having some film from a bible from the Arrow Station on the other side of the island. So, they piece it together with tape and such (like I did in my 290 class.)
While Eko and Locke, or Leko and Ocke, are watching the film, Michael ("I want my son, man!") is looking around at the hardware of the place. The Reconstructed Dharam Orientation film says that the computer can be used, but is stricly forbidden, as a communications device with the outside world. Is this world as the mainland or world as in on the island but outside the station?
Well, either way. Michael gets a "Hello?" message, which is just really freaky. And it turns out to be from.... Walt!, or is it? Is it really from Walt? Do the others have him and have gotten information from him. How is he, or an The Other, at a computer station, aren't they all sneaky and stealth in nature? There are still some pieces missing from the Dharma film, are those in the other four stations? What importance does Aaron, Claire's baby have? Where are Desmond or Danielle? Well, just wait a month, maybe there will be some answers.
