Arizona 2005 (Day 4)
So, my last full day in Arizona was relaxing. Wake up late, finish Veronica Mars, play some Catan, lunch in town, Palatki Indian Ruins, and a fine dinner at the fancy resort restaurant. The scenery is beautiful and paying 3 dollars for a skim milk the size of a tiny bowling pin is outrageous.
I woke up late, and my family was gone. My brothers and mother were getting massages down at the spa. My dad was hiking or something, or doing some business. I didn't want to get a massage. I don't think I could handle it. I mean, I just don't want to pay someone to push my skin and muscles all around and then offer to center me. I feel plenty centered, and I don't have much stress.
So, I had finally finished downloading the last two episodes of Veronica Mars Season 1. The night before I left on this vacation I had gotten through almost all of the first season, and I have been trying to download the 4GB torrent I found so I could find out what happens. I thouroughly enjoyed it and take back most of the bad things I have said about UPN.
My brother Jim had come back just about the same time cousin Michael had come to find out if we wanted to play Catan. Again, I got sucked in. Again, my brother Jim won. The highlight of the game was I had ordered a breakfast burrito at around 10 in the morning. I still have my watch set on DC time [2 hours ahead of Arizona], DCo Time. Shortly after finishing the game, the entire 11 member Cohen gang moved onto lunch in town at The Wildflower Bread Company.
The Wildflower Bread Company is much like Cosi's or another place like that. It had sanwhiches and salads and other things of the sort. Nothing special. I, still quite full from the breakfast burrito, opted to get a Caesar salad. This thing came with, for some reasons, mushrooms? I mean, come on. It had way too much cheese, the lettuce was pretty big also. Afterwards, my brothers and my Dad got ice cream from the Cold Stone Creamery in the same shopping centre that seemed like in a few years it would have an Apple Store. I am afraid to eat out and dine out, I have decided. I like to carry out, that is just my way.
So, we were done with lunch, and we were now headed to the Palatki Ancient Indian Ruins! This involved driving back towards the resort, but going left instead of right down a 5 mile dirt [red Airzona dust] road. Once we got there, it was pretty spectacular, though. The park rangers and everyone who worked there were very nice and loved to talk about the pictographs and the way the Palatki lived.
We drove back, I took a shower, and then we headed to the Yavapi Restaurant. This was the fancy restaurant at our resort. You had to look nice, no 'denims' or any of the sort, you know? So, I put on this mad bomb new sweater I got a few days before coming out here. It multiplies my style by 5 times, at least.
During the meal, my cousin started to play 20 questions. This got out of hand as we were all asking more than 20 questions, but it was fun. I had the biggest stumpers. My first one was "The Pythagorean Theorem" which took them a long long time to figure out. The second was "Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi," which they were close but my Mom kept on suggesting "Star Wars" which was not what I was looking for. My final one was a real stumpper: "Tomahawk" They got really close and then kept on hovering around 'javelin," "spear," "dart" and things of that nature. Finally, my Uncle Fred, who had been at the other end of the table and had been listening in for 3 minutes or so got it after guessing a few things. He is incredibly smart.
For the meal at the AAA Four Diamond rated Yavapai Restaurant I got a Caesar salad and the Buffalo. Now, my first experience with grilled buffalo was this past summer at the most amazing dinner I think I have ever had at the Wild Rice Restaurant in Bayfield, WI. Wild Rice was better than Yavapai, but Yavapai was pretty good too. The Buffalo was in a weird southwestern sauce kind of thing, but it was tasty. The Caesar salad was put into this baked cylander of parmesan which made it difficult to enjoy. For dinner, I got the Artisanal selection of cheese again. They gave me less than at the less fancy restaurant, but it was fine, I had filled up on bread. That is what I think the really fancy restaurants do. They give you a lot of bread in between the many courses and give you a little bit of food on your plate and you leave really full. I had a Cherry Coke before dinner and a Cherry Coke with my buffalo. I guess I have been having a lot more Cherry Coke on this trip than normal. But that is what vacations are for, relaxing to MAXXXXXXX.
So, tomorrow I go home until the 3rd of January when I and Willis drive back to A2 for Winter Semester. This trip has been relaxing and great, but I really want my vacations about going home, sitting on the couch, watching movies, and eating Pumpernickel's and Chipotle. A weekful of old high school weekends.
