Grandma Celia's 90th Birthday
3 plane rides, 3 meals, sleeping on couch cushions, 2 MiniDV tapes, a few car rides.
I wanted to cry, but I was afraid I'd get it on the audio track. It was a great party, a great time. I got to see my family. I'll post a video of it eventually, I didn't take many photos.
On Friday night, I didn't go to sleep. I stayed up watching episodes of Weeds I had downloaded from the iTunes Music Store, and then Devan came home and I talked to him. Then, I shaved and showered and eventually woke up Frey to take me to the airport. We got there quickly, and I sat on the plane.
I stayed up so I would sleep on the plane, that didn't happen. I finally got into San Fransisco. I called my Dad, and his and my Mother's flight just landed. I have some good video of seeing them in the airport. We went to In-and-Out burger, then they stopped by their hotel, and we finally made it to Grandmama's house for a quick visit before Dad and I went into the city to visit our other relatives who live around there.
There I saw Sammy! and the other Cohens (Aunt Carolyn, Uncle Fred, Alison, Michael, and Jane) for an hour. Michael, 12, beat me in 2 games of ping pong... snap. They watch Survivor and the Amazing Race, and they have good qualities too. We had to go back to South San Fransisco 'cause my Mom needed the car. She was making a posterboard full of old photo's for my Grandma's party.
That night we went to a nice Italian Restaurant.
The next morning we went to Green's, a vegitarian place in SF. They just opened up a party kind of room in the back, and it was a very nice time. Grandma got to socialize with people, which she doesn't do enough, and she likes doing it, I hope. She is just a really amazing woman, and I love her, and I was happy I was able to share that moment with her.
Strait from the party I got into a vehicle with my brother Jim, driving, and my father and brother Sam. Sam, Dad, and I had flights leaving in the afternoon, while Jim had a later flight. So, I got dropped off at Northwest, and I will be seeing my family again in two weeks at Grandma Ruth's 85th Birthday. More family, I love it.
On my first flight from SF to Minnesota, I sat on a plane with the entire Womens Track and Field team from the University of Minnesota. My second flight was nearly empty. I was orignally in row 17, but they changed me to row 7 for some reason. Once I got on the plane, I realized why. The seat I was going to have was mangled and tapped up, it was quite something. Looks like someone vandalized it. And, it was only the seat I was going to have. Hmmm, go figure.
Overall, a lovely trip, surprisingly low stress. I am happy I went. I didn't mind traveling for this one at all.
