The Prisoner is what?

Today I watched the first episode of the old British series The Prisoner, and I thought I would be really into it. But, I just wasn't. Usually if a story is weird, the characters will be interesting enough to follow and keep with, like Lost ( where the premise is so out there, but one can really get into the characters).

It is a little disappointing, because I was hoping it was going to be really cool amazing and odd. Instead, it was not all that great because there was nothing I could get a hold on. And that giant white sphere thing... made no sense, sorry. Compare it to the "monster" in Lost in the Pilot (Parts 1 and 2), where the power of the monster was showed far before the form of it, making it more believable that it is capable of that.
