A Reason to enjoy the Simpsons DVD Commentaries
September 04, 2006
On many of the Simpsons DVD commentaries, the writers and producers of the show often talk about how in Korea, where the cells are colored, they don't have the same things. Sometimes it has funny results, such as blue or brown pizza. Also, English is not the Korean's forte, so they sometimes have problems with the English characters.
Deadwood Season 2
May 23, 2006
Today I stopped by Potomac Video, and saw that they had Deadwood Season 2 in stock. All 6 discs of it. So, I naturally grabbed up all of them, and got up to part of disc four until I had to stop for the day. It is a humbling experience to watch more than 9 straight hours of television. I mean, it is a great experience to watch more than 9 straight hours of television. It really makes you feel like a big man.
My New Disease : Spy Genre
May 13, 2006
Ever since going to see Mission Impossible 3, compelled by J.J. Abram's story telling of being one of the strong hands in creating Lost (my favorite television program), I have been watching Abrams' Alias. I watched the first season, the I burned my way through the second season. Now I am on disc 5 of the third season, however, it has been out of Potomac Video since November, and therefore, I have no hopes of it coming back.
So, any desire to watch movies that do not have people fighting and deceiving each other has been totally compromised. My neurodependcy for ACTION makes me now need to watching Mission Impossible 1, which lacks any of the complex personal relationship side story stuff that Alias does (and to a lesser extent MI:3).
I also rented Mr. Lee's Do the Right Thing, which I have never seen and I am looking forward to it.
The Prisoner is what?
May 05, 2006
Today I watched the first episode of the old British series The Prisoner, and I thought I would be really into it. But, I just wasn't. Usually if a story is weird, the characters will be interesting enough to follow and keep with, like Lost ( where the premise is so out there, but one can really get into the characters).
It is a little disappointing, because I was hoping it was going to be really cool amazing and odd. Instead, it was not all that great because there was nothing I could get a hold on. And that giant white sphere thing... made no sense, sorry. Compare it to the "monster" in Lost in the Pilot (Parts 1 and 2), where the power of the monster was showed far before the form of it, making it more believable that it is capable of that.
Veronica Mars - "Happy Go Lucky"
May 03, 2006
I just finished watching the episode "Happy Go Lucky" of Veronica Mars, and I must say that I was blown away by it. Now, the past few episodes have been great, but this episode had everything. Connecting the first season mystery with the second, high school problems, Father+Daughter relationships problems, secondary character problems, second season mystery problems. This episode had several moments where I yelled at the television (well, actually my computer monitor considering I recorded it).
I think the last episode of television I was yelling that much in pure television love was the season finale of Lost - Seasons 1. That was a great ending. Oh man, Oh man... I love good television so much.
Lost, Season 2, Episodes up to 18
April 07, 2006
Well, I have just purchased the Soundtrack to Lost (iTunes Music Store link), and let me tell you, this is amazing to listen to while I get to write about Lost up till now. One might wonder, why haven't I written about Lost lately? Well, I was busy with my Lost podcast, Turniphead, but now that is defunked. And then there was the Lost hiatuses, which now seem to be over for the most part (maybe an off week here and there).
Now, I would like to write about Lost, for posterity purposes. News relating to recent episodes follow This show is what happens when you give nerds a bunch of money and some cameras.
So, this season seems to be about two things on top of the character's own personal problems and surival. The Others and Dharma. There is some hinting at Sickness, but that has not taken too much of a spotlight yet. I think it is amazing how they can just mention things, make them seem scary, and then not mention them again until they are needed. Such as the Others in the first season. They were mentioned around the time of Ethan-gate, and then not so much, and the popped back up at the end of the season.
The Others well, there is a lot of stuff happening with the Others, and an expansion of who they are. Who are they? We don't know. Are they connected to Dharma somehow? I am thinking no right now, but that could change easily [reasoing below]. How'd they get to the island? Beats me. What do they want? Children! Why? I donno.
This brings up some very good questions: Where are the children that were taken from the Tail Section, Walt, and Michael? I mean, seriously. They know that Walt has super powers, but I don't think anything major is going to happen with them this season. I think Walt is going to be a much more important character than anyone can think of right now.
About Fake Henry Gale and what he has said. (I think he got caught on purpose, first of all.) He said that there is someone bigger than Zeke, the guy in the beard, which is really cool that there is someone who is being alluded to ("He") but we just don't know anything yet. He also said that this island is hidden from the world. There is something very super special about this island, and we just don't know it yet, and I love that. I think at some point, he will be traded for Michael or Walt. I wonder if Walt is still getting paid... hmmm.... Also, I bet The Others are at a Dharma Initiative hatch, actually... beacuse, how else would they get to chat with Michael, hmmm? But, are they at the Flame?
Dharma they have some hatches, they seem to still be active, or at least the Swan is. And.....well, that is about it. That is all we know, really. It is something bigger than we can even imagine right now, which I think is great. As a viewer, I know that this Island has many more secrets to be revealed and told, and that the writers and producers know where they are going. They are dropping hints about what may happen, but just like we could have never thought there was the Dharma Initiatve going on in the hatch in the first season, just like what will ever happen in the third season will just expand on what has already been established.
Also, NOTHING has been said about the Hanso Foundation. Carlton and Damen, my new best friends, have said in the offical lost podcast that the hanso foudnation fictional website is being redone for the summer, and that therefore alludes to something with the hanso foundation will be coming up in the season finale.... UHM? Will Alivar Hanso reveal himself as the "He" that Zeke and Fake Henry Gale have aluded to? If so, my thoughts that why the Others are not related to Dharma fall apart, but right now, I am just not thinking that way.
You can see how it is easy to be going very circular in all these thoughts. I am happy I am writing this down as I can look back on this in five years and laugh at my simple thoughts of what Lost really is.
It is not pergatory. What is the black smoke? I don't think it is related to Dharma, or the others. Why did the plane crash? The black smoke/island. I wonder who will be alive by the end. I hope Jack, Locke, Aaron, Walt and Hurley make it. Everyone else... sort of not as important. I can see Sawyer biting the dust, Sun or Jin are going to go as some point, create tension. Michael, he will die for his son, I got the feeling. Kate... I bet she will be around at the end. Charlie, he'll die for Claire, and Claire will die for Aaron. Sayid.... I'm sorry, but I think he won't make it too far. All the Tail Section survivors won't be there by the end. I just hope Jack and Locke make it to the end, that would suck if either of them died. Will they ever get off? I think a cool final episode thing would be all of the main people from the flash back, all the family members, coming in on a large ship and you get to see all of them... that would be cool, and really really really lame.
Why the Others are not related to Dharma. Despite their use of the Medical Hatch to hopefully perform surgery on Claire, they did not seem to use any of the other ones. They did not use the Arrow, there were still supplies there in a neat bundle. They defintially did not use The Swan, which seems to have been in working condition since installation. On top of that, Fake Henry Gale seemed to be surprised by the Hatch.
Entourage's Pacing
March 03, 2006
So, I have been watching reruns of Entourage ON DEMAND and I have noticed the pacing of the show is just great. They don't waste any time with filler dialogue. Things the audience knows are coming they don't play out.

It's a Big Big World is a children's television show
January 02, 2006
So, I have decided to watch PBS's new show It's a Big Big World after reading a short article on the WashingtonPost.com about it. One piece of information that zooped my attention was this about the imagery on the show:
Mitchell Kriegman, creator and executive producer of the PBS series, said it took him about five years to develop "Shadowmation," a technique that combines live-action puppets with computer-generated images. "It really feels like 3-D and sort of pops," he said.
My first thought is that this Sloth character is fucking high. They all live in this crazy tree commune thing. "Welcome Animals, We are all animals!" Alright, now they are singing about getting up in the morning. This stoner sloth is talking about "de-tangling vines." "Whoa.... rewind."
Now i believe the Sloth's name is Snook. This sloth wants to take naps, just like a stoner.
And now they have broken into spontaneous song. Is it the show's theme song? No, it is just a random song.
UHOH, they broke the fourth wall. Bad move, Bad move. And a monkey is doing Tai-Chi?
Alright, so, they tricked me. They were looking for Warts, and I couldn't figure it out, but it turned out that Warts was a frog. But, I figured it out before they said it out loud.
And now they are singing again. These people are living in some weird tree commune happy place.
The images do look pretty cool, though. Fluid camera work, sometimes skewed camera. You can notice the masking done around the puppet on green/blue screens. It does look really 3D though. Sometimes the puppet seems to float on top of the images instead of sit in them. Also, I don't think that any of the characters are racial short hand. The lighting on the puppets is gnarly.
I would let my theoretical hypothetical children watch this program. it promotes the environment, which I am a fan of.
Twin Peaks is a confusing show
January 02, 2006
So, I was walking around, as I usually do, in Potomac Video late at night, and I noticed the charming VHS set of Twin Peaks. I had never seen, only heard of, this show, so I thought I would grab the first episode tape.
I brought it home, and watched a third of it over the course of the past three evenings. I am thoroughly confused by who all the characters are and everything like that. There are so many white females and drudgingly looking white males that I am just getting so mixed up as to who everyone was.
Veronica Mars is an enjoyable television show
January 02, 2006
So, I have gotten hooked on Veronica Mars. I rented the first five discs from Potomac Video. Then we went on vacation to Arizona and I was left wondering what happened in the last two episodes of the season. I acquired the episodes and then acquired the first ten episodes of season 2 to catch up. Two nights ago I got the First Season DVD Set for Hanukkah.
Sadly, this all means I have yet another show to watch all the time and keep up with. This terrible plague of enjoying TV torments me everyday as I spend 4 hours watching TV, at least. On with the... show?

What Kate Did (Lost - 3.9)
November 30, 2005
What a great way to end a streak of new episodes of LOST. This is the last one until January. And what a way to go off with some new mysteries and some answers. So, come with me and let us explore What Kate Did, and there are spoilers if you have not seen it.
Tonight's episode followed Sick Sawyer, Post Shannonatic Death Disorder, the Dharma Initiative, and What Kate Did. What was very welcoming about this episode is that Ana Lucia was not in it at all. It seems she just brought everything down and interalized a lot of conflict whereas all the viewers want to know the secrets of the island.
So, Kate. Kate blew up her house, along with her mom's boyfriend, who turned out to be her biological father. Her dad is not the warmest of people, continuing a long tradition of characters having parental problems. So, it is about discovering that she did everything with the best intentions, but that does not excuse her from being a murderer. She is helping out Sawyer in this episode.
Sawyer seems to be possesed by Wayne, Kate's BioDad. So, for some reason, he is the reason why she has been repeling Sawyer, who she has a thing for. But if she has a thing for him, why on earth did she kiss Jack? I mean, seriously! Women, as said by Jack, are in fact crazy. I sense a Love Quandrangle between Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and Ana Lucia coming on... and strong!
Finally, Kate is able to confront her demon the most directly it seems than anyone else has, and she is able to show affection for Sawyer. And what was that black stalion supposed to represent? I mean, her insanity? But then, we see, that there are just horses on the island... and not branded with the Dharma logo.
Now, Sawyer recovers (his arms are getting a lot of abuse), Jin gets his handcuff taken off, and Shannon is burried. What about the Hatch? Michael and Mr. Eko, along with Locke watch the Dharam Orintation film again (old school). Mr. Eko doesn't say anything at first, but then he admits to having some film from a bible from the Arrow Station on the other side of the island. So, they piece it together with tape and such (like I did in my 290 class.)
While Eko and Locke, or Leko and Ocke, are watching the film, Michael ("I want my son, man!") is looking around at the hardware of the place. The Reconstructed Dharam Orientation film says that the computer can be used, but is stricly forbidden, as a communications device with the outside world. Is this world as the mainland or world as in on the island but outside the station?
Well, either way. Michael gets a "Hello?" message, which is just really freaky. And it turns out to be from.... Walt!, or is it? Is it really from Walt? Do the others have him and have gotten information from him. How is he, or an The Other, at a computer station, aren't they all sneaky and stealth in nature? There are still some pieces missing from the Dharma film, are those in the other four stations? What importance does Aaron, Claire's baby have? Where are Desmond or Danielle? Well, just wait a month, maybe there will be some answers.
The Other 48 Days (Lost - 3.7)
November 16, 2005
LOST tonight followed the Taillies on their 48 days on the island. Amazing how 45 minutes can sum up what took a season and a little bit for the other side. Obviously, they were more exciting than these people. Because of the time needed to explain, the show went pretty fast and there wasn't a lot of side stories. We got to see about Mr. Eko, Ana Lucia, Bernard, Goodwin, and the rest of the Taillies. Spoilers Ahead
First off, this episode made each day shown into a chapter. Lots of cards on it with "Day 1," and so forth, then "Day 48/ Today" which was exciting. The extended part of this episode was simply a montage of previously seen footage. It was a scam to get us, the viewers, to see some commercials for Invasion. It was a rip-off, and mean to get our hopes up. I can't decide if I like the chapters or not, but they worked very well in telling this story. Also, when it cut to black, it was very suspenseful.
Bernard is most likely the best actor. I would say Mr. Eko is, but then again, he does a lot of non-vocal acting and stuff. Bernard did a lot of dramatic stuff, and he plays the part of an old white dude well. Ana Lucia, I just don't like her acting style, she just seems kind of awkward in her part. Uhm, Ana Lucia in this episode is completely paranoid. Can we please see her flashbacks soon. Is she an EMT, or a cop, or something? Also, the next episode teasers have her seemingly being a B once again. She seems to be motivated by wanting to save the kids, but then she is just damn paranoid. I guess they make her look more compassionate when they have her cry. But she is just mean, like, when she tells Bernard "there are no survivors," that just crushes him because he still has hope that the one person on the island he loves is out there.
What I didn't know was why Goodwin stayed around and helped out so much if he was bad. He built a fire, he caught a chicken, he was incredibly nice and never tried to harm anyone... until he decided to kill Nathan. Then he was just creepy to have around. I mean, in the previous mention of Goodwin, in the previous two episodes, he came off as a good guy, and even in the beginning. I liked him, but then he betrayed me.
I am upset that Nathan died, I liked him. He was on Ed, did anyone ever watch that? Jack's wife was also on Ed. Now they need to get Michael Ian Black and the guy who played Ed in flashbacks and they can get the complete Ed main character cast. All the people that were taken by the others, will we see them again? Do the others kill, hurt, or are they "better off" now? The writers did a good job of making us believe that Nathan was the bad guy, complete with starting the idea that Goodwin was good a few episodes ago, and then keeping us thinking he was good right until the end.
What was the whole "waiting 40 days" thing. Mr. Eko waited 40 days to talk, Ana Lucia waited 40 days to cry. Of course, there is a connection between the Bible and the number 40, but 42 is one of the "numbers." It is something about keeping in the sadness instead of expressing it, and it coming out in the wrong ways.
Let's talk about the Others. Are there different Others? I say this only because the Raft Others look different from the Jungle Others. The Jungle Others look like they are from some weird commune, while the Raft Others look like they are homeless folk. We do learn some more about the Others. (also the writers are really smart by giving the audience a superior position in known that Goodwin is bad, and Ana Lucia wins, we know that there is going to be a showdown, and that makes watching it more exciting)
First of all, the others have been there for at least 20 years. They took the children and now they are "better off." The people on the list were "good" people. The others are highly trained, maybe they were part of the peace corps? No? Well, no one really knows because there weren't a lot of answers. But this episode we got to see the most of the others than we ever have before.
I'd be interested to know when they filmed this in comparison to the first 6 episodes. When they had Boone talking through the radio, that was so damn cool. I predicted that before watching this show tonight. Where was the security system, the monster? We saw none of the "good" pre-815 residents, such as Desmond or Danielle. If I hear Jin saying "Others! Others!" when he running from the Taillies one more time in a new episode, I might go INSANE. Also huge props to Kevin Blank for the amazing visual effects!
Some cool set up for other episodes are: Still more Dharma hatch stuff, and why is there an extra glass eye in there. Next week is going to be amazoing when the Fuselagers and the Taillies get to meet and everyone hates Ana Lucia (that paranoid bitch).
Abandoned (Lost - 3.6)
November 14, 2005
This week, a CHARACTER DIES (not a spoiler because it was published by damn ABC) and we follow the Tallies and the Fuselagers. However, what happened to the hatch people? Also, the first Official LOST podcast! Let's move on with Abandoned (a.k.a. The Hunt), and as usual, spoilers ahead.
So, this episode was about... well, what was it about? Following the two groups of survivors meet. So, this episode was really about Shannon and her need to be taken seriously, in both flashbacks and on the island. Again, we see Wet Walt. I mean, seriously, think about it, he cannot always be dripping wet, everytime we see him. And, he is speaking backwards. It really isn't Walt, however considering that Sayid also sees him, we must believe that it is some of the island's spirituality working, or something from the Hanso corp?
In the flashbacks, we got to see that Jack had a huge hand in Shannon and Boone's being on the island: he made a decision between saving Shannon's father and saving his future wife (or ex-wife now, we guess) and therefore set Shannon on a spiral towards Australia. In fact, how much did Jack do? He got Sawyer deported, indirectly, by indirectly getting Jack's father to go to Sydney and therefore meet Sawyer in a bar and ultimately get deported. What else did Jack do?
So, the Taillies. Ana Lucia is a B, and she totally messes everything up. We get nice little clues at to what will happen next week: people being taken, Mr. Eko not speaking, and the parts from the teaser from next week shows Ana Lucia sad or something like that..... GAH!!!!! She is just a B. So, She kills Shannon, yes, she kills Shannon, and it is not going to be good for anyone, you know? Tensions will be tight!
By the way, Shannon tonight did her best acting of all the show. Sadly, it was her last, but also her best. She found her character just before she died. Too bad, because you never want to see a character you like die.
Where was Jack, Kate, and Sun this week? Probably chilling in the hatch. The hatch, yes, the hatch. That is what is important about this island. Where is the French lady? What is the cable from the beach? What are the other hatches for? Why has the Dharma Initiative been forgotten by people? It seems like LOST likes to not mention things for a third of a season and then hit it up again to surprise people. Which leads me to the LOST podcast.
ABC has launched a well produced Podcast for the show. The podcast features some dude leading it, some interviews with characters, and then producers answering questions. I really like it, it was very enjoyable, not just because I am obsessed with the show, but because it is good. The best part was The Producers talking about their plans for the show.
They explained it as they know they want to go across the country, but they don't have the exact route planned out yet. If they want to see more of the North, they'll drive through Wall Drug. If not, they may stay South and follow that. Considering what feels right, they'll do that. Things are planned, but improvisation is allowed. They also talked about a soundtrack to the show, which I would just eat up.... delicious!
So, next week, we find out what happened on the other 48 days, and it is going to be awesome. I was always thinking that they may just start the season over and go follow them all all season, that would be NUTz....
...And We Mourn the Loss of Greatness
November 11, 2005
Goodbye Arrested Development, you gave us all hope.
I guess, this last 1 hour special was to see if taking it off the air for a few weeks, then brining it back on would do anything to raise ratings and bring in more viewers. Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn.
I feel like such a gid with no Survivor and ER
October 28, 2005
Snap! I did not set my computer to record Survivor and ER tonight, well, better that way, I could get my paper done easilier. But now that I have done the paper, seems like I have nothing to do!
Although I do now have 1.2 days of live phish stuff from ripping it from the live phish radio stream.

Today, in a most amazing event, Apple... Steve Jobs made me fall to the floor in glee. You can now buy videos from the iTunes Music Store. Not only can you buy music videos, but you can buy Pixar shorts, and not only can you buy Pixar shorts, but you can buy... LOST.
I had an incredible celebration when this happen. That one of the five shows on the iTunes Music Store right now is one of my fanaticism. The videos are a perfect size for the new video iPod I purchased.... what an amazoing birthday.
Arrowhead (Lost - 3.4)
October 12, 2005
Tonight, I had only one moment where I started to get all giggly inside. This Hugo-centric episode was good (Pug thought it was better than last week's, which I disagree with), and got more of the characters involved. So, let's delve into this episode. (spoiler's ahead, matee)
This episode found the Hatch People, the Raft People (now combined with the Tail End Survivors), and the O-48.
Firstly, the O-48. Charlie needs to stop acting like a douche all the time to people who don't give him what he wants immediately. On the other hand, he is very helpful to Claire and her baby. Claire, by the way found some evidence that the Raft People are in trouble, and gives it to Sun, who promptly hides it. I say good move, Sun. You did the right thing; don't want to cause any panic around the camp.
The Hatch People do some more exploring. Because it was a Hurley centered episode, we saw him compare his struggle with being charge of food to being a winner of a huge amount of money. He saw what it did before to him, so he tried to explodinate it. Thankfully, Rose was nearby. Now, why would such a secondary character play such a HUGE part in the whole thing? Well, it is because, with the Raft People are the Tail End Survivors, and with the Tail End Survivors is Bernard, Rose's very much alive husband. Does this mean that Rose has some kind of super natural powers? Hard to say, it might just be her faith.
In this episode, we get a glimpse into the inner workings of the Hatch, with Jack and Sayid looking around. We also see Kate and Jake start to have a little more friction than usual. We also get to see one of the most beautiful actresses around. Finally, we see what happened to the Tail End People.
They found another Dharma hatch... yes, this was the moment in which I went mad nuts. The logo looks like an arrow pointing up. It is hard to figure out what the logo means. Why would a swan be there for an electromagnetic station? I have no idea. This Dharma station, however, was completely abandoned, did not have any lock to keep people out, and was run down horribly. Sorry, no amazing food, or button to push every 108 minutes.
Overall, a good episode. And I would like to see some more action from an external force, such as The Others or the Monster, or maybe even the Black Wisp of Smoke from the season 1 finale. Where has the wisp been, seriously.
A Stepping Stone (Lost 2.3)
October 05, 2005
Alright, tonight LOST was not as amazing as the last two episodes, but it was very necessary as a stepping stone for the next few episodes until another stepping stone episode comes along. One where characters position themselves into new situations more than do grand things, and that was what this episode was: a shifting episode. Now, onto my thoughts SPOILER ALERT...
This episode followed the Raft People, the Hatch people, and not so much the rest of the O-48 (the original 48 survivors of the flight).
The Raft People (Jin, Sawyer, Michael) were captured by some Others (if they are THE OTHERS) we don't know. They could be the official Others, or they could be untrusting survivors. One may assume they are the untrusting survivors from the tale section because the woman from Fast+Furious was in cahoots with them, but this does not entirely prove who they are, although it does lend itself to a heavy "yes, they are from the tail section." This, we don't have enough answers from yet." Again, Walt is not with them, so they could be just Tail Survivors.
The Hatch People, we finally calm down and start to get some answers, accompanied by the amazing Orientation film that I was just waiting to burn up (but it never happened). The film explained a great deal of why they are down there, but it did not get to why they need to save the world. Again, the show answers one questions and poses a few more. The Dharma project seems to be some kind of massive scientific explanation, but there is no explanation for the super natural affects of the island. So, therefore, half of the puzzle is still out there, or actually, more than half.
This episode doesn't feature much of the O-48. We see Hurley down in the hatch, to bring him closer to the food and to let him participate in the "bad numbers!" towards the end of it. Sayid is brought in to help. I think that is pretty much all we see in this episode. I mean, the other people, they don't matter right now? No, they don't. This is a a Hatch People show.
Again, this episode was more of a stepping stone/shifting episode that really sets up some great episodes (I assume) to come. That is not to say this episode was bad. The entire film that was just great, it was a very nice thing for them to give us some real concrete answers to why the science station is down there. So, considering the Raft People haven't heard anything about Walt yet, I am going to go with those people are Tail End Survivors. The 108 Countdown thing is connected to some kind of massive destruction that we will eventually see.
Cathardisism (Arrested Developement - 3-2)
October 05, 2005
This last episode was the first grand slam of the season. The first two episodes were ok and funny, but this one had some hilarious jokes. Forget-me-know, analrapist, the cousin love, and the surrogate. The back jokes were great also. Mostly the army jokes and GOB calling George Michael a pot head. Also, it was funny how Michael took everything Rita said as her being disappointed with him. Great hilarious episode... pure great hilarity.
"take a look at banner, michael."
And I Applaud the TV (Lost - 2.2)
September 29, 2005
I mean, like, oh my god. LOST just keeps getting better. Tonight, Jake came over as it started to rain and watched it, along with my roommate Eric. (Pug, Devan, Big Steve watched it later off my PowerBook). I mean, i just.... I just love this show so much that I want to marry a television show and have spin-offs with it. Anyway, I should not get too into it, It was just so damn entertaining. I always remember it is entertainment, and nothing more. Spoilers Ahead, and I am not going to invisible them
This week's episode goes backward before it goes forward. We start off at the same moment the first episode of the season started, just with following the raft rather than the hatch. Then we move back to the moment that we missed last week, and I think this is just a great story telling technique. Also, by not showing what happened to Locke and Kate, they made the season opener much more dramatic. Although, this episode had a lot more action and stuff happen.
They showed what happened with Locke and Kate after they went down the hatch, and it was so cool. In an odd way, we got more answers out of Desmond, and we found out he was Desmond. He did not seem like an incredible horrible mean guy, just scared. I mean, we saw the bullet almost killed Kate, and that next week... oh man, you know, we are 2 episodes in and only about 10 hours have really passed in the survivor's lives. It is a show that moves so slowly, but on the other hand, so much happens.
The logo, i mean... come on! The Dharma eight sided logo that is on EVERYTHING!
Finally, the last minute of the show, as it is with almost every episode recently (this season and past), have been just cliffhanger after cliff hanger.... the others?! THE OTHERS?!. It is just,,,,,,, just a great episode. I applauded to the television,.
Crappy Local News
September 25, 2005
The Simpsons tonight had a great interlude of The OC. Excellent.
Hot Oh Damn (LOST Season 2 Opener)
September 22, 2005
LOST tonight was amazing. After the hour long "Destination Lost" recap show, it ran right into the season opener for season 2, which began incredibly incredibly incredibly odd. Now, I begin with my amazing CSS invisibility text for SPOILERS!
The episode begins with this beeping until it turned out to be . From there, the episode took turns that I had not been expecting, even none of my housemates had been expecting. There was no . We saw . While it answered one big question, of what is in the hatch, it loads up another huge bunch of questions.
Further, this episode did have a different feel from the rest. It did not follow the characters in the same way, but it was still...This was just one of those episodes where you don't know what you are doing when it begins, and then it ends up just being... amazing, and incredible. I just, I can't wait for next week.
The League of Gentlemen
August 27, 2005
Lately, I have been watching The League of Gentlemen television series from over there in Britland. The make up of the show is a bunch of skits based around the fictional northern town of Royston Vasey in England. When I started watching it during the beginning of my hiatus between camp and school, it was a little slow and odd. It looked pretty nice. As I began to watch Series 1 (which is really like season 1, but over there they call them serieses), I started to like the recurring characters and their story lines. Series 1 and Series 2 were good, but where the show really shined, I feel is in Series 3. (there was also a Christmas special where it seemed like it was an excuse to thorw the characters into weird situtations).

Series 3 was just a great way to end the show because it was 6 episodes that were in the same time period but followed different characters that all ended up at the same final scene. The third series was just great how they took the characters they developed over the past 2 series and threw them further into some wild situations. I would suggest anyone looking for some laughs and are not scared of British accents to go rent the Leauge of Gentlemen.
As Thoughts of Summer Turn To Fallen Leaves
August 24, 2005
As Life Nears an end for this summer, thoughts turn to the new fall season of television shows. And there are some shows I am excited about, mainly Arrested Development, Scrubs, the OC, and Lost. And there are the perifery shows, mostly made up of ER and other scattered thoughts. (Although I am hoping I can get my EyeTV working by the time September 8th comes around, because I will be out of the house on Thursday nights because of class... howyarg.)
Having now been watching Arrested Development episodes all summer long, I have fallen into a deeper attraction with this show, and must have more it. The same goes for Scrubs, as I have been watching the first season DVD set and laughing at it. the OC is ridiculous that I get wrapped up in it, it has me. Lost, is just fucking amazing! everyone must watch it because it is hits drama action mystery sci fi jungle party.
Man, this is getting me really worked up, I want more TV.... .MORE TV!!!!!!!1111!!!!
AD: S2 DVD

Thank You Lost (Seasons 1 Finale)
May 25, 2005
So, tonight was the 2 hour season finale of LOST. It was great. Katie and Jill came over to watch it. Despite the unclear picture (I did record it in HDTV, however), I enjoyed it thoroughly. (update 9/23/05- I got rid of the spoiler invisotext)
Dude, that guy just blew himself up., I did not see the raft twist coming. Dude, were those the others, why the hell are they on a nice boat, out at night, and why are they still hanging around a freaking crazy island!? I also would have done the very last shot differently, though that means nothing because I am never going to have that kind of chance. I would have had the torch drop down, and have the camera be behind it as it drops, then have it snake through the underground hatch area and finally reveal some door with a light overhead that is pulsating red. Also, what was with the black whisp of cloud flying around?, cool CGI for a network TV show. I would have liked a few questions to have been answered or for the plot to move forward just a little. It was, but then it hit the end cliffhanger... snap.
Family Guy had 2 LucasFilm references
May 16, 2005
Last night, Family Guy had two lucasfilm references. The first was with the chicken fight and Indiana Jones, when the guy gets mutilated by the plane, and the second was with the end of the episode mirrored the end of A New Hope. Brilliant
Survivor: Palau, Finale
May 15, 2005
Tonight is the Finale of Survivor: Palau, the 10th season of the show. It is not a reality-show, but a game show, and it is entertaining. My prediction is that Katie will go away with the One Million Dollars. My guess is that Jen will be the first to go, and then somehow Ian will get Immunity, feel bad for Katie, and vote Tom off, hoping for an ally on the Jury. Update! - Tom Wins!

Update at 9 22 - Ian jumped off at the final Immunity challenged to ensure that Katie and Tom would go to the end. I reinterate my prediction for Kaite. And Ian, you are a fool, you should not give up A million bucks just for friends that you will have after the game, probably. He should have stayed on! But, it was a very respectful and selfless, although foolish, move.
Update at 9 53 - Alright, the Jury just went by and talked to Katie and Tom... and boy, did Katie dig herself in a hole. She did not try to be nice to Janu at all. On the other hand, Tom, when asked by Ian "Why should you not get the Money?," said that he was already compensated by being able to have his adventure out in Palau. I mean, that is sort of a bullshit answer, but it is a good answer to give rather than saying why you suck. Come on Katie, be a little smarter.
SNL was funny tonight (Will Ferrell)
May 15, 2005
I especially enjoyed the very last skit... "Do you like luxury." (34 MB, QuickTime 7 Req.) It was just my style. The episode was funny, and it seemed like the cast was energized by their host. Weekend Update was also quite biting. Next week's 30th season finale is going to be with Lindsay Lohan and Coldplay... and man, Lindsay Lohan is looking ghoulish lately.... snap!

Every TV Show On DVD...
April 24, 2005
Dudes, people, come on. Every TV Show is now seeming to be coming out on DVD. I have no problem with this, but the list keeps on getting more ridiculous. They are even putting out those stupid television shows from Nickelodeon on DVD, and it is just the show with a few more games.
Now, I love television. and I am going to be buying the Lost DVD very soon. It is going to have some audio commentaries, and also some special features.
I don't even know what I am arguing here. I just saw a giant list of television DVDs at Amazoin.com and got emotional.

Get Arrested this Summer?
April 18, 2005
So, last night's season finale of Arrested Development was pure lovely. It set up some great stories for the next season, the jokes were strong (The cousins kiss was... hot).
Well, now on the website, it is saying that it Returns This Summer... what does that mean? Is it going to be a summer show? I hope not, because well, I do not have access to a television over the summer on Sunday nights. I WANT MORE, I WANT MORE! GIVE ME MORE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT
Lost: Season 1, Episode 19
March 31, 2005
LOST is incredible. That is all I can say after the last few episodes, and after last night, I am just very impressed by this show. Some people may be upset by how slow the show moves, and how few answers are provided by the show while it is just creating more questions.
So far, there have been no big questions answered. But, a main question has been answered that these people being on the island is not a random act of coincidence, and that the island is magical. As long as nothing really stupid happens on this fantasy/adventure/drama show, I am fine. When I thought a plane would crash in last night's episode, I was a little upset, but it turned out to be in a dream. But, there have been few answers to everything. I would like it if somethings would be made sure, concrete, instead of there being many theories.
Locke's ability to walk on the island is because of the island, "it changed me. It made me whole.... but it wants me to follow what I saw." He can walk because of it, and he breaks down again. The island is leading him towards the destination. (Also, did anyone notice the "lost dog" paper on his car at the beginning of the episode?)
There are 25 episodes in this season, up from a usual 22 (or in AD's case, 18 sadly.) and the finale is going to be stunning and incredible... The way this episode ended, I started applauding in my dark room alone, because I was just so impressed by how amazoing the episode was. The coming episodes are going to be stunning, and the next season will no doubt be just as stellar. So many adjectives!
"Sword of Destiny"
March 28, 2005
Last night's Arrested Development was really funny.
The best part of the whole episode was the very end when they showed the video of George Michael doing his Star Wars fighting again. I laughed so hard when they were like "...It seems like a terrorist training video," and they showed the clip, and I just lost it, completely. And also the new Dr.Stein, he was funny with his "Best doctor in the county/state/world/southern california."
It was a good episode, No matter how much Ben Stiller makes me uncomfortable.
Don't say Television never did anything for you
March 04, 2005
During next week's the OC, they will be showing theStar Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith Trailer.
On Thursday, March 10, FOX will debut the full Episode III trailer during a broadcast of "The O.C.," and they want everyone to know. Here's a look at a television spot announcing the trailer debut, including the first glimpses of some new Revenge of the Sith footage.
There are always good reasons to watch the OC, and now there is one more!
Deadwood Season 1
March 03, 2005
Growing up without cable has taught me a few things now that I am exposed to it in a Collegial environment:
- There is a lot of crap on TV
- There is a lot of wonderful things on TV
- There is more crap than wonderful things
One channel that I have not been exposed to, however, is HBO. The only HBO shows I have ever really watched are Curb Your Enthusiasm, and as of this Spring Break, Deadwood.
Set in an ungoverned stretch of South Dakota soon after the 1876 Custer massacre, Deadwood concerns a lawless, evolving town attracting fortune-seekers, drifters, tyrants, and burned-out adventurers searching for a card game and a place to die.
Part of my liking it is my love of the Western, and another part is my love of a good telling of a story. It has interesting characters, settings, and the writing. Well, there is part of the writing that is not part of regular television. It seems that the good people at HBO like using words that refer to parts of people's body and actions to take with them. I understand that in the Old West colorful coarse language was used, but I don't think some of these terms were used until the 1970's, but what do I know.
Watching television shows all at once instead of serial once a week is a much more desirable experience. Sometimes I wish that TV was just old movies and reruns and people saw the newest shows just by renting or buying a season's worth of shows... but, this is the current way we all get TV. But, I never saw
Deadwood on television, and I probably won't see the current second season on TV either. It is surprising there are only 12 episodes in an HBO season, as opposed to the usual 22 or so episodes for network series.
All in all, I reckon Deadwood to be on the list of shows I would saddle up with (please excuse the previously used out of date language). I suggest you all go out and rent/buy/borrow the DVDs.
Lost, up to Episode 17
February 25, 2005
LOST is just amazoing, amazoing. Something that may be lacking, however, is the story of what they are doing with themselves in relation to the island. We have learned about many of the character's past struggles, but they have not done much with the people on the island. And there are other people on the island.
I think my favorite character is Locke, just because he is so calm all the time and knows how to do everything, but he is just a regional manager of a box company. I want to know more about him, where he got his skills, and everything else like that. I think the Jin and Sun backstory part 2 was a little disappointing, but it was needed to tell their story on the island (uhm, why did he not going back to her, come on). Finally, everyone knows the broad speaks English, and with a mighty fine vocabulary, might I add. Michael needs to get himself together, he is just all over the place, high strung and all that shit.
I want to know more about the sounds on the island. And come on, there has to be some more explanation to why everything is so weird. It is obvious Claire's baby has some magical poweresses, and Walt also has magical powers. Walt is one weird kid.
Ah, but next week, we finally get to see what is going on with Hurley's backstory. He most represents the nameless faces that we
