Country Singers You Are An Asshole If You Don't Like

Johny Cash
Willie Nelson
ok I can't think of any more right now
any of these people who don't like country music have to like these people anyway.

in my experience very few people who claim to categorically dislike country music have really listened to good country music, or know the difference between good or bad country music. mostly they mean "i hate garth brooks" or something like that. it is generally the same thing with people who say they don't like hip-hop: they do not know what they are talking about.

I was wondering about them, but you know what I mean, there is a significant portion of the young population that says they like "anything but country" for music.

Anyway my point is even if Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson are not your preferred musical artists you still have to respect them or you're a bitch.

i like johnny cash better when he's old and manipulated into doing nine inch nails covers. i respect his whole career though.

I see you also respect not knowing why he covered Hurt.

Posted by: DHI at October 20, 2005 08:27 PM

why did he cover hurt?

Posted by: asdf at October 20, 2005 09:05 PM

because rick rubin told him it was about drug addiction?

i mean i really like cash but i just sortof doubt that he was all "shit man i need to cover this totally sweet NiN song".

holy shit, wait, discoe, you like johnny cash?!?!?

Dude first he said in interviews long before that that he went to a bunch of metal shows and shit with his kids and really enjoyed them... so he definitely listens to stuff outside his genre.

Also he said that when he sings other people's songs he feels like they are his own...I think a lot of it was due to how he felt about growing old and dying. The man clearly had presence of mind, from what he wrote around that time. From how he sung it it seemed clear the song had a lot of meaning for him. Old people aren't all senile and without willpower, a lot of them do different shit when they're really old because being about to die puts different perspective on things.

West, I am no fan of Johnny Cash, but I am an asshole, so my statement still holds true.

The Astros have been in even worse shape, using three starters with less than two years of major-league experience. Signing Clemens to go with right-hander Roy Oswalt and left-hander Andy Pettitte again gives them a legitimate Big Three once again. If Clemens, after several minor-league tuneups, proves anywhere near as good as he was last season, he will give the team precisely the lift it needs.
